Jacob Figley

Jacob Figley  wash the grandfather of Margaret (Phegley) Morgan. He was born in Germany in 1717, and was married to Delila Davis. The date they came to the United States is unknown. They had eleven children. He served all through the Revolutionary war under Gen. Washington. He died in 1825, aged one hundred and eight years. Abraham, Figley, son of Jacob Figley, was born in Berks County, Penn., in 1769 and was married in 1790 to Catharine Donelson, a lineal descendant of one of the Donelsons of the Highland clan in Scotland. They had eight children. Mrs. Figley died in December, 1806. In November, 1808, Abraham Figley married Elizabeth Hughes, by whom he had four children. He served in the Indian war of 1794-95, having moved from Berks County, Penn., to Washington County. He moved to Columbiana County, Ohio, in 1808, and died there in 1834, aged sixty-five years.

Probate File No. 23. Volume 3, p. 397. Will dated 5 March 1818, probated 23 Mar 1821. In accounting of 14 March 1821 “Jacob Fegly decd and Beligah Fegly.” Final accounting 25 Oct 1826.

In the name of God. Amain. I, Jacob Fegly of the County of Washington in the state of PA___. being in perfect health of body, and of sound mind memory and understanding (blesed be God for the same) but considering the uncertainty of this transatory life do make and publish this my last Will and testament, in manner and form following, to wit, principally and first of all, I commend my immortal soul into the hands of God, who gave it, and my body to the earth, to be buried in a decent and christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors herein after named; and as to such worldly estate where with it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following manner to wit. First it its my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expences be duly paid and satisfied as soon as conveniantly can be after my decease. I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Billiga one bed and nessory beding together with what of household and kitchen utensiels as she may chuse to keep for hir use. I give and bequeath unto my said wife the one thurd of the incumbs of my farm during her natural life for her maintenance and seporte all which legacyes to my said wife I do hereby declare to be in lieu and stead of her dower at common law. I give and devise one hundred and thirty seven ackers and a half of the South East end of my farm that I now live on including the manshion house and barn orchard and all other improvemants (being the balance of said farm after deducting one hundred and thirty seven ackers conveyed to my sone Jacob) to my daughter Mary her heirs and assigns for ever, she or they paying thereout unto my other children herein after named the several sums of money to them respectively bequated. I give and bequeath to my sone Simeon one dollar. I give and bequeath to my son Zachireah one dollar. I give and bequeath to my sone Adam one dollar. I give and bequeath to my sone Abraham one dollar. I give and bequeath to my sone Jacob one dollar. I give to my sone Jonas one dollar. I bequeath to my sone Joseph one dollar. I give to my daughter Eive one dollar. I give to my daughter Elizabeth one dollar. I give and bequeath to my daughter Margret one dollar. The one dollar bequeathed to each of my children before mentioned in adition to former advances made to them. I give and bequeath to my grand daughers Deborough and Mary (daughters of my daughter Mary) all my personal estate after what my wife may retean for hir own use during hir life and at hir death (should she out live me) all the personly ____ after payment of just debts funeral expenses to go to my said grand daughters and thre real estate as before mentioned to my daughter Mary to _____ her heirs and assignes for ever subject only to the aforementioned in cumbrence of the one third of the profits to my wife and the payment of one dollar to ____ all the rest of my children beforementioned. And lastly I do nomenate and constitute and appoint James Gordon Esqr. and James McGrew of Williamsport Washington Co. Pa. to be the Executors of this my Will, hereby revoking all other Wills. Legacies and bequests by me heretofore made and declareing this and no other to be my last will and testament IN WITNESS whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this fifth day of March in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred Eighteen.
