James Harlan (August 26, 1820 – October 5, 1899) was an attorney and politician, a member of the United States Senate (1855-1865), (1867-1873) and a U.S. Cabinet Secretary at the United States Department of Interior (1865-1866) under President Andrew Johnson.

Mary Eunice Harlan (September 25, 1846 – March 31, 1937) was the daughter of United States Senator James Harlan, the wife of Robert Todd Lincoln and the daughter-in-law of Abraham Lincoln.

Silas Harlan was a pioneer. He was born on March 17, 1753 in Berkeley County, West Virginia (when it was still part of Virginia), the son of George and Ann (Hurst) Harlan. Harlan County, Kentucky was named for him.

John Marshall Harlan II (May 20, 1899 – December 29, 1971) was an American jurist who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1955 to 1971. He was the grandson of John Marshall Harlan.
