My grandmother was Bernice (Harlan) Hill. Bernice was born in New Castle, Henry County, Kentucky to Edgar Leslie Harlan and Margaret Beall Flood. She married William Weldon Hill. The had two sons, Weldon Harlan Hill and Horace Edgar Hill.
My Great-Grandfather – Edgar Leslie Harlan
Edgar Leslie was born in Albemarle County, Virginia. He was the son of Thomas Samuel Harlan and Mary Fleming Harlan (her maiden name was also Harlan.) Edgar Leslie moved to Kentucky near New Castle, Henry County, Kentucky at the home of is daughter, Bernice (Harlan) Hill. They had two daughters, Bernice Harlan (later Hill), Mabel Harlan (died as a teenager) and Juanita Harlan (later Cox.)
My Great-Great-Grandfather – Thomas Samuel Harlan
Thomas Samuel Harlan was born in Albemarle County, Virginia. He was the son of James White Harlan and Frances Bailey. He married his second cousin, once removed, Mary Fleming Harlan. They had six sons, James Forbes Harlan, Edgar Leslie Harlan, Thomas Jefferies Harlan, Horace Cameron Harlan, Howard Hinton Harlan and John Bailey Harlan. One daughter, Rosa Bell Harlan, died at the age of three. Thomas was the son of James White and Frances (Bailey) Harlan and the great grandson of Jesse and Sarah (Harlan) Harlan.

Mary Fleming Harlan was born in Albemarle County, Virginia to Jesse Harlan and Abigail Morris. She married her second cousin, once removed, Thomas Samuel Harlan. Mary was the daughter of Jesse and Abigail (Morris) Harlan and the granddaughter of Jesse and Sarah (Harlan) Harlan.
