William Robertson
Karen's 4 greats grandfather was William Robertson.
William was married twice. The name of his first wife is unknown,
but it may have been Mary. He married a second time to Mary Hardin,
the daughter of Martin Hardin and Lydia Waters. William was born in
Scotland and died in Nelson Co., Kentucky around July 1796. William had
two children by his first wife: a daughter named Elizabeth and a son named
John. There may have been others, but none were mentioned in his
will which was probated in Nelson Co., Kentucky. Elizabeth married a
Mr. Garnett first and then was married in Joseph James in 1785 in Lincoln
Co., Kentucky. Nothing is known about Elizabeth's descendants, if
any.

John Robertson
John was born in 1752 in Virginia and died around November 1813
in Nelson Co., Kentucky, where his will was probated. He was married twice
- first to Elizabeth Williams with whom he had one daughter and second to
Mary Parker with whom he had 10 children, including William Nelson
Robertson. Mary was born in Culpeper Co., Virginia and died in 1825 in
Washington Co., Kentucky.

William Nelson Robertson
William Nelson was the oldest son and third oldest child
of John Robertson, being the second oldest child by John's second wife,
Mary Parker. William Nelson was born in Nelson Co., Kentucky and died in
McLean Co., Kentucky. He was married to Frances Amelia Overton, the
daughter of Samuel Overton and Frances Cosby. It is through Frances that
Karen is descended from some very old Virginia families. Some of the
surnames include: Overtons, Cosby, Wingfield, Booker, Garland. There
are many intermarriages among these families. Below is a picture of

Samuel Booker Robertson
Samuel Booker was the seventh child of William Nelson and
Frances Amelia Overton Robertson. He was born in Nelson Co.,
Kentucky in 1824 and died in McLean Co., Kentucky in 1910. He was
married twice. First he was married to Mary Jane Jackson (daughter of George Cessna Jackson
and Sarah Wren Landrum). He and Mary Jane had two sons one of whom
died young and the other, George W. Robertson who had numerous
descendants. His second wife was Frances Martha Morgan (daughter of Thomas J. Morgan
and Margaret Phegly). He and Frances had ten children, the youngest
of which was Karen's grandfather, Edward Garland Robertson. Below is

Edward Garland Robertson
Edward Garland Robertson was born in 1871 and died in
McLean Co., Kentucky in 1955. He was married twice. His first wife
as Lydia Brown with whom he had two children. His second wife was Aurelia Bell Springfield,
daughter of Dr. William J. Springfield and Palestine Overton Burns.
Edward and Aurelia had eight children, the second to youngest of which was
Karen's father. Below is a picture of Edward Garland and Aurelia Bell

Ivan Walker Robertson
Ivan Walker served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and helped transport troupes to Normandy during the D-Day invasion. After World War II, he went to the Indiana University were he got his degree in accounting. It was at Indiana University that he met Joan Acre. The married and moved to Owensboro were Ivan worked as an accountant at Western Kentucky Gas. He worked there until is death in 1982.
