Abraham LeMaster

Abraham LeMaster (LeMaistre), the immigrant, was born about 1639 in Parish of St. Marie, Isle of Jersey, Channel Islands, the son of John and Sarah LeMaistre. The following deposition on file in the Charles County, Maryland Court establishes his approximate year and place of birth and the names of his parents. Click on image to see a larger version.

It was previously thought that Abraham's wife's name was Elizabeth. This, however, now appears to be doubtful.

Richard and Martha LeMaster

Richard was the son of Abraham LeMaster (LeMaistre). Richard was a farmer, carpenter and inkeeper. He was born 1668-1670 in St. Mary's County, Maryland and died between May 1735 and January 1744/45 (probably) in Charles County, Maryland.  His wife was named Martha. Her maiden name was not "Dennis" as was previously thought.

Abraham Martha Kerrick LeMaster

Abraham was the son of Richard and Martha LeMaster. Abraham's wife was Martha Kerrick, the daughter of Hugh Kerrick, Sr. Martha was born about 1722. Abraham and Martha married about 1740. There is no direct evidence that Martha, the daughter of Hugh Kerrick, was the wife of Abraham. However, the will Hugh Kerrick leaves property to his daughter, "Martha LeMaster." In addition, Abraham named a son Hugh which is the first time the name "Hugh" was used in the LeMaster family. In addition, the estate of Martha's brother, James, who died in 1770 in Fredrick County, Maryland, lists to of Abraham and Mary's sons as heirs. There is also other circumstantial evidence.

James and Mary Erwin LeMaster

James LeMaster was the son of Abraham and Martha Kerrick LeMaster, the grandson of Richard and Martha LeMaster and the great grandson of Abraham LeMaster (LeMaistre) who immigrated from the Channel Islands.  Both James and his brother Hugh served in the Revolutionary War.  At the right is a copy of one of James' muster rolls.  James served in the 8th and 12th Virginia Regiment from June 10, 1777 to December 1, 1779 as a private in the Fife & Drum, the light infantry at Valley Forge and Regiment C. 541.
